A paraglider in his 50s spent the night trapped on a cliff face until he was rescued by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter yesterday.
Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust spokeswoman Debbie Bell said they were tasked by police to respond to Kariotahi yesterday morning.

The man had experienced difficulty while paraponting and was forced made an emergency landing on a ledge on a cliff face, she said.
Unable to make a call for help he wrapped himself up, kept warm and remained there for the night.
Police located the man the next morning after being alerted that he was missing by a friend.
The patient was retrieved by winch, assessed and then taken home by police.
"It was a difficult winch because they had to be careful not to blow him off.
"Amazingly the man was uninjured in his ordeal and it was a good outcome for all concerned," Ms Bell said.
