A golfer who fell 30m off a cliff while trying to retrieve his ball is expected to undergo surgery today.
A spokeswoman for the Howick Golf Club said the man, aged in his 60s, was on the 17th hole when he fell on Tuesday afternoon.
Two other golfers saw his bag at the hole and when he did not appear after a few minutes told the greenkeeper, who called out his name and discovered him down the cliff.
The man, a 29 handicap, is believed to have spinal injuries.
