Christchurch police are seeking witnesses to a hit-and-run involving a cyclist and an elderly pedestrian.
The 75-year-old man was knocked down trying to cross the road on the corner of Hargood Street and Linwood Avenue, southeast of the city centre, about 8.15am Thursday.
The cyclist stopped briefly but left without giving any details, Constable Scott McLachlan said.
A female motorist stopped to help the man and called an ambulance, he said.
The elderly man was treated for minor injuries.
Mr Scott described the cyclist as dark skinned, stocky and 18 to 23 years-old.
He was wearing dark glasses, a cycle helmet and riding a red mountain bike, he said.
