The fate of this year's Oscar hopes may be all but set in stone but the red carpet continues to serve up surprises as Hollywood's award season marches on.
Perennial best-dressed nominee Emma Stone has come to the fore as a serious fashion leader. First it was a bejeweled jumpsuit at the Golden Globes, before yesterday's menswear-inspired tuxedo dress at the Screen Actors Guild awards.
For some it was a step too far but there's no question Stone promises to be the most exciting red carpet reveal come Oscar day.

Others chose to play it safe, including best actress nominee Reese Witherspoon, who was flawless in a sculpted, white Armani gown.
Fellow nominee Jennifer Aniston poured herself into a low-cut vintage Galliano gown that left little to the imagination. Revealing cleavage has been Aniston's signature this season.
Less successful looks included British actress Rosamund Pike, who arrived wearing a large, shapeless mullet dress with heavy floral applique. It was a far cry from the revealing white Vera Wang gown she wore to the Golden Globes, which drew widespread criticism.
Sadly, yesterday's choice will earn little redemption from fashion critics, who will once again be relegating the actress to the worst-dressed column.
Amidst the television stars, The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting stood out in a simple-yet-stunning red column dress, while Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer delighted in an oh-so-pretty, floral ball gown.
But perhaps the day's worst look came from Orange is the New Black star Dascha Polanco, who appeared to be channeling Kim Kardashian in an ill-fitting, backless white lace gown. Which, frankly, can never be a good thing.
