Kiwi singing star Hayley Westenra is engaged and making plans for a wedding at home in New Zealand.
Gerald Westenra, Ms Westenra's father, today confirmed reports his 24-year-old daughter is set to marry her long term partner, French sound engineer Arnaud Sabard.
He said both families were delighted with the engagement and were looking forward to the wedding.
Ms Westenra was elated with Sabard's proposal - made during a recent New Zealand trip, he said.
"We're very excited. [Hayley] didn't want to leave the country until she had that ring."
Though there was no fixed date for the wedding ceremony, it was likely to be held at home in New Zealand, Mr Westenra said.
"It's unlikely to be held in France, though of course we have to accommodate both families. We do have a beautiful country here of course."
Ms Westenra is currently recording in London.
