Far from making a clean getaway, a person committed a dirty deed in a Dunedin home.
Dunedin police last night received a report from a North Dunedin resident who returned to their Dundas St home after a weekend away to find their bedroom door in pieces and their room soaked in urine, acting Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson said.
"It's an unusual one,'' he said.
"The bedroom door was taken off its hinges and split in half, and somebody has urinated in the bedroom.
"Nothing was taken.''
The crime was committed sometime from April 1, the day of University of Otago's Hyde St party, to April 3.
The soiling appeared "malicious'' but police were keeping an open mind as to the motivation behind it, Thomson said.
Anyone who knew what had happened should contact Dunedin police on (03) 471 4800 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
