Police have released a CCTV image of a suspect in a burglary turned arson attempt on the Shirley St Albans Club.
The man appears to have a black mask pushed up on top of his head - instead of on his face.
Smoke was seen coming from the building on Hills Rd on Monday at about 10.20am. The fire was deliberately lit according to police.
"The fire started in the corner where a bookshelf was. Whoever lit it poured accelerant on it and started the fire," Detective Constable Craig Watts said.
Detective Constable Watts said while there is a bit of damage to the building it would have been a lot worse if it wasn't seen by people walking past.
An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the premises.
Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage but have a description of the suspect.
He is about 40- years-old, of medium build, wearing a light coloured hooded sweatshirt, dark track pants and Nike running shoes.
Police are appealing for any sightings of the man.
