Ports of Auckland managing director Jens Madsen is leaving at the end of February.
Madsen said his five years with the port had been a very important part of his career and life, and he was pleased to leave the organisation and business in a strong position.
He joined the port as chief operating officer in February 2006.
His career has included 28 years with the world's largest shipping group, AP Moller-Maersk. He established and headed Maersk's New Zealand arm.
