Three men are facing assault charges after allegedly stabbing two people and breaking another man's hand in Kawerau on Friday.
The street-side brawl occurred about 8.30pm on June 26 when three men allegedly crossed Newell St to assault two local men, aged 44 and 48, in a seemingly unprovoked attack, police said.
The 48-year-old man suffered stab wounds to his chest and back and spent the night in hospital.
A 44-year-old woman who is linked to one of the victims also suffered stab wounds to her arm, back and chest and is still recovering in Waikato Hospital.
The 44-year-old man had a broken hand and bruising.
All three victims and the offenders were known to one another, police said.
The alleged offenders, aged 25 and 27, from Kawerau were arrested on Saturday and appeared in court today facing assault charges.
They have both been remanded in custody to reappear on Wednesday.
A third man, 33, was arrested in Kawerau this morning and will appear in court later today.
