Neighbour charged over Marc Ellis driveway feud

Former All Black Marc Ellis' neighbour has been charged after allegedly tearing down a wall and having rubble dumped on his Waiheke driveway.

Jazz singer Briar Ross has been in a dispute with Mr Ellis over the Matiatia driveway since at least last year.

Police visited Mr Ellis' Waiheke property last week to take photos of rubble dumped on his driveway.

Sergeant Peter Knight earlier told the Herald it was possible somebody would be charged over the incident.

Ms Ross said "unfortunately" she couldn't say anything further this morning.

"I've told my side of the story. I won't say anything until we've studied all the ins and outs of it and we've come up with the facts..."

Ms Ross earlier said she'd received "a lot" of positive feedback about her actions.

"I've had lots of positive things - texts from people, got a free coffee in my coffee shop for persevering in the fight for democracy."

Mr Ellis earlier this month said he was "amused" at how the situation had progressed.

And last year, he told the Herald Ms Ross was clutching at straws about the driveway dispute and it was a matter for lawyers to resolve.

Ms Ross sent Mr Ellis a legal letter last winter trying to stop the work.

She has now been charged with wilful damage, Fairfax reported.
