The number of properties infected with Mycoplasma bovis remains at 30, according to the Ministry for Primary Industries' latest update.

While the total hasn't changed since last Friday, there is one fewer infected property (IP) in the North Island, and one more in the South Island.

There are five IPs in the North Island and 25 in the South Island, with one property in Waikato being cleared and one Otago property found to be infected in the past seven days.

Seventy-three properties are on Restricted Place Notice, meaning they are infected or are suspected of being infected.

The notice prohibits all unauthorised movements of farm stock and other risk goods on to and off the property to minimise the chance of the disease spreading.

Transport vehicles must follow a cleaning and disinfection process when they leave a restricted place.

MPI said it has received 786 compensation claims, with 493 of those completed or partly paid. The value of claims paid so far is $49.1m.

MPI said regional meetings in Stratford and Hunterville would be held on Monday, March 25. The meetings are open to all interested people, and will cover the Mycoplasma bovis programme's progress to date, and an opportunity to ask MPI questions.

It said other regional meetings were also occurring over the next two months, for affected farmers in the morning and for all interested people in the afternoon.
