A mixed-quality yarding of cattle sold accordingly at yesterday's store sale at Stortford Lodge.

Good cattle in the yarding of about 250 head sold well but others were harder work for auctioneers.

In the sheep pens, scanned-in-lamb ewes sold well and lamb prices held up well despite the lack of rain and grass growth.

Buyers for the cattle and 5500 sheep came from around Hawke's Bay, Gisborne, Rangitikei and Taupo.

There was no prime sale on Monday. It was cancelled for the funeral of PGG Wrightson livestock manager Vern Wiggins, who died last week.
