The Government has a plan to reach zero carbon emissions by 2050 but what could this mean for farming?
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told The Country she realises agriculture is an "incredibly important industry for us," and that the Government will carry the "bulk of the cost" of the ways
to mitigate emissions.
Although the Prime Minister admits there is a long way to go when it comes to reducing emissions, "we have some of the most productive and innovative farmers in the world. I believe if anyone can do this - we can."
Also in today's interview Jacinda Ardern talks about medicinal cannabis and reflects on her life in the limelight since getting the top job.
Finally the Prime Minister has a special Christmas message for New Zealand's farming community, acknowledging that rural work doesn't stop for the festive season.
