The annual AP & I show promises to be more spectacular than ever.
"Entries are coming in thick and fast for horse, sheep, beef, pig, cattle and home industries sections. It's going to be a great fun filled weekend with lots of family entertainment and food," says AP and IAssociation manager Jo Wells, who with her team has put in long hours to ensure everything is ready on time.
A major feature will of course be the grand parade, which starts at 2pm on Saturday with machinery, cars and prize winning animals on show.
Kapiti's axemen will demonstrate their wood carving skills.
The sideshows are back again this year with plenty of rides available for the kids and carnival food. There will also be food trucks dotted around the showgrounds, says Jo.
Inside the stadium a trade show with craft stalls will be in full swing. Equestrian events start on Thursday, while animal judging, including sheep, happens through the event. There is a special kids' zone and a display of vintage farm machinery. At set times some of these old machines will 'crank' up to show people how they work.
Dog trials are a must-see at any AP and I Show.
Of course there are shearing competitions as well as dog trials. There will be music, Kate Martin's dance crew will be there as well as Andrew Wilson the magician. There is an animal nursery and more.
Family passes for two adults and two kids are $30. Daily admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids, preschoolers get in free.
