Auctioneer Bjorn Andersen of PGG Wrightson, selling weaner cattle in Dannevirke last week.

Outstanding weaner calves with a great reputation for shifting well were offered to buyers at Dannevirke's weaner sale last week.

"There is some top, cracker stock up for sale today," auctioneer Bjorn Anderson of PGG Wrightson said.

First under the hammer were 42 outstanding Angus weaner steers from Waione which Andersen described as "real quality." They sold for $1060 a head.

The second pen of 23 white faced steers from the same vendor made the sale's top price of $1070 a head.

Buyers knew what they were looking for and 40 white faced, late born calves which were extremely quiet, from a Pahiatua vendor sold to a Wairarapa buyer for $1040.
