Levin Stock Sales

The Levin sale was bigger than previous weeks with cattle and sheep selling well, and prices on a par with outside markets. Demand was very strong with more demand than available cattle.

Sheep - rams $30 - $50, fat ewes $70 - $90, lighter ewes $30 - $50. Cattle - yearling bulls $800 - $900, two-year steers $1400, yearling steers $750 - $930, yearling heifers $880 - $940, weaner f/h bulls $580 - $610, weaner f/h heifers $510 - $580.

Wanted: all ages of cattle. Will buy in paddock or for auction, sheep and lambs required. Phone David Haworth 0274 504 133.

November 30 sale saw a big yarding of weaner bulls with a good selection of other cattle for buyer to fill their orders.

Two year beef Friesian steers 620 kg made $1630 ($2.63) and 365 kg made $910 ($2.49).

Two year Hereford bulls 500 kg - 765 kg made up to $1900 ($2.48 - $3.62) and white face bulls 530 kg made $1555 ($2.93). Friesian bulls 545 kg made $1500 ($2.75).

18 month beef cross steers 363 kg - 385 kg made up to $1030 ($2.59 - $2.67).

18 month beef cross heifers 375 kg made $990 ($2.64).

Yearling Friesian steers 280 kg - 440 kg made up to $1120 ($2.12 - $2.55).

Yearling white face bulls 370 kg made $1115 ($3.01), Friesian bulls 265 kg - 364 kg made up to $1060 ($2.91 - $3.04) and cross breed bulls 282 kg - 358 kg made up to $860 ($2.40 - $2.84).

Yearling Hereford heifers 265 kg made $850 ($3.21) and white face heifers 280 kg made $800 ($2.86).

Friesian heifers 412 kg made $1075 ($2.61) and cross breed heifers 157 kg - 202 kg made up to $460 ($2.03 - $2.28).

Weaner Friesian bulls 117 kg - 125 kg made up to $510 ($3.76 - $4.26) and 97 kg - 108 kg made up to $465 ($3.70 - $4.38).

Friesian boner cows 525 kg - 728 kg made up to $1310 ($1.64 - $1.80) and cross breed boners 515 kg made $755 ($1.47).

Jersey boners 340 kg - 350 kg made $410 ($1.17 - $1.21) and beef cross boners 532 kg made $1000 ($1.88).

Weaner pigs made $67 - $85. Mixed sex lambs made $66. White face bull calves made $170 - $310 and white face heifer calves made $170- $250. Friesian bull calves made $150, heifers made$85. Angus cross bull calves made $195 and heifers made $230.
