Rongotea Sale

The sale was again dominated by bulls of all ages and breeds with strong demand by buyers from outside the area, reported Darryl Harwood of NZ Farmers Livestock.

3 year Friesian steers 1050 kg made $2640, Hereford bulls 755 kg made $2070 and Angus bulls 780 kg made $2200.

3 year Angus cross heifers 530 kg made $1450.

2 year Friesian — Hereford steers 476 kg — 553 kg realised $2.58/kg — $2.67/kg, Angus cross steers 625 kg made $1590 and cross bred steers 485 kg made $1225.

2 year Hereford bulls 795 kg made $2300, and Angus bulls 550 kg made $1560. Friesian bulls 479 kg — 640 kg realised $2.59/kg — $2.75/kg, Jersey bulls 410 kg — 500 kg realised $2.21/kg — $2.44/kg and Murray Grey bulls 540 kg made $1505.

2 year Friesian — Hereford heifers 360 kg — 435 kg made $2.55/kg — $2.86 kg and Angus cross heifers 363 kg — 485 kg traded from $2.65/kg — $2.50/kg.

Yearling Friesian — Hereford steers 225 kg — 372 kg realised $2.50/kg — $3.07/kg, Angus cross steers 355 kg made $910 and Friesian steers 310 kg made $690.

Yearling Hereford bulls 320 kg — 390 kg realised $2.50/kg — $2.92/kg and Murray Grey bulls 355 kg made $900.

Yearling Angus cross heifers 346 kg made $900 and Friesian- Hereford cross heifers 327 kg — 353 kg realised $2.66/kg — $2.76/kg.

Weaner Friesian — Hereford steers 142 kg — 157 kg made $580 — $630.

Weaner Friesian bulls 98 kg — 162 kg made $400 — $645, Friesian- Hereford cross bulls 130 kg — 178 kg made $440 — $560 and cross bred bulls 127 kg — 172 kg made $450 — $550.
