Local man Tom McCone takes part in a lawn mower race at the Strath Taieri A&P Show at Middlemarch on Saturday.

The latest Strath Taieri A&P Show, held on Saturday, was a success, show secretary Michelle Tisdall said yesterday.

"Thanks everyone on a great Strath Taieri A&P show," show officials added yesterday in a social media post.

Organisers had already begun a survey, which would be made available online and to the Strath Taieri community this coming week,

Feedback was being sought including on the potential to stage "other events" in future.

More than 200 people attended the show at the Middlemarch A&P show grounds, and more general interest attractions, including for young people, had added to the success, Mrs Tisdall said.

An inflatable maze was part of the entertainment and Middlemarch volunteer firefighters had provided fire safety information.

Many horses had taken part in the traditional event, but the other activities also provided "a nice little break from the animals", she said.

A Lab in a Box, providing science education activities, added to the fun.

Show president Emma Barker said the "weather was beautiful" for the show, which had started at 8am.

"It was just an amazing day," Miss Barker added.

"Everything went really well - there were no problems."

The home industry section, including vegetables and craft offerings had been a particularly strong part of the overall mix, she said.
