A big supply of store lambs ran into a reduced demand at Stortford Lodge yesterday.

A number of the bigger buyers were absent for the more than 5000 lambs on offer so prices eased.

Ewe lamb prices were back by up to $5 on last week and $8-$10 on the week before. Male lambs eased less.

Agents said some of the regular buyers were stocked up and needed to lighten the load before they could buy again.

A feature of the sale was the 961 mixed-age and older ewes offered by Tom Couper's Pinecroft farm, Middle Rd.

The ewes were all scanned in-lamb and were about $5 down on last week.

The R2 friesian bulls in an offering of about 220 head of cattle sold well but other lines were harder work.

Buyers were from Hawke's Bay with one from Dargaville.
