An idea that started "over a beer in a pub" between a group of friends has turned into a television show that is now in its third season.
The Red Stag Timber Hunters Club wants to do for hunters what Top Gear has done for car enthusiasts. Club member Andre Alipate caught up with The Country Early Edition's Dom George for a chat about season three and what the show means to him.
Alipate says what's important to him about The Red Stag Timber Hunters Club is bringing it into the living rooms of people who may not know much about the sport as well as entertaining hunting enthusiasts.
Each season takes around a year to make and showcases New Zealand's scenery as well as the thrill of the hunt.
So what drives Andre to hunt? Alipate says he approaches hunting mainly for getting clean organic food for his family but admits he enjoys the survival, pursuit and physical aspects of the sport.
