Roland Fumasi is a California-based senior horticulture analyst for Rabobank who's presenting at the Horticulture NZ annual conference tomorrow.

Fumasi caught up with The Country's Jamie Mackay to talk about exciting future export prospects for the industry.

Two-thirds of the global middle class is expected to be in the Asia/Pacific region by 2030 and this presents a "tremendous opportunity" for New Zealand as a horticultural exporting country says Fumasi.

Jamie and Roland also discuss the leading countries for New Zealand vegetable exports and the diminishing availability of agricultural water as demand is set to increase by 50 per cent by 2050.
