Beau struts her stuff on the beach at Whangamata.

Beau struts her stuff on the beach at Whangamata.

When it comes to pets that get you out for a walk on the beach, Beau the goat is bucking the trend.

This lovely young lady is developing a small following of fans as her owner posts her walks in beautiful locations like Whangamata Beach online.

"Beau came into our lives on Labour Weekend of 2017," says owner Phebe Holgate.

"She was 10 days old and had run out in front of our car in the middle of the bush. Once we got her home she became like part of the family.

"She was a bit rough from being out in the conditions but a week of tender loving care had her looking like a new lady," says Phebe.

The Holgates have family living in Whangamata and come over every chance they get to see them.

"Beau loves coming over too."

Beau has an Instagram page, which Phebe started a little while ago because she takes her everywhere with the family — including to the beach, the bush, parks, rivers, gorges, hikes and out on the farm.

"Her favourite thing to do is ride with her dad on the quad bike. She is essentially our dog and acts like one too."

Phebe says Beau will already be a familiar face to a lot of Whangamata summer locals who know her from her regular adventures.

"We are trying to get her famous because she brings so much joy to our lives I think she could do that for other animal enthusiasts."
