Lydia Ko is heading for a first time look at the Masters where she will be honoured by the Golf Writers Association as their female player of the year.
She had plans to visit the famed August event last year however a change in her schedule meant she had to miss the event. This time she will be centre-stage when the GWAA makes their annual awards.
Ko is playing the JTBC Founders Cup event in Phoenix this week then the Kia Classic as a buildup to the first ANA major of the year.
That starts on March 31 at the Rancho Mirage course in California before Ko will pack up and fly to Augusta.
"I'm just really excited. I've heard so many great things about it, and I've heard that there is not one piece of grass that is in the wrong place," Ko said.
"Anna Nordqvist said it almost feels like you're walking into a postcard where it's so perfect. Some other people told me that I'd be surprised how undulating it is compared to on TV."
Ko is especially keen to watch her favorite player, Phil Mickelson, tee it up again and to soak up the vibe and take in the history of everything around Augusta. She's also read so many great tributes about the top rated Jordan Spieth and hopes to meet him in her visit.
"I haven't had that many opportunities to go out and watch the PGA Tour players, and I've watched a lot on Golf Channel or on TV, so that will be really cool to just see them play," Ko said.
"I'm going to be there the whole day of Wednesday, so there's going to be that par-3 contest, so that will be really cool to see some of the legends tee it up."
