Police have apprehended a man involved in a shooting incident in Northland this afternoon.
The Armed Offenders Squad was called out at around midday today to an address in Ahipara.
Inspector Barry Smalley said that a man allegedly arrived at his partner's home, fired two shots, and then fled.
The AOS caught the man at a nearby residence just before 4pm.
He is now being interviewed at Kaitaia Police Station.
Police said there was no struggle and nobody was injured.
However, the firearm used has not yet been found and police are now searching the man's car and the property where he was located.
