Catwalk designs often leave audiences drooling, but McDonald's was the talk of the runway during fashion week in Florida with models, rather than burgers wrapped up in the fast food giant's packaging.
Up-and-coming designers from Miami International University of Art and Design were challenged by a South Florida McDonald's franchisee to create a collection made entirely out of their burger wrappers.
The students created a 20-piece capsule collection of dresses, dubbed McDCouture, using more than 4,600 burger wrappers, 1,770 french fry boxes, 1,100 straws, and 600 takeaway bags, along with 500 ketchup holders and 100 McFlurry cups.
From evening gowns to skirts and ponchos, the show, which was part of Miami Beach Funksion Fashion Week, even finished with a wedding dress, like a true couture collection. The bridal gown, made of 900 white wrappers came with a bouquet also made from packaging.
Following Thursday's show, the looks will be on display at the Miami International University of Art and Design.
