Clash of the Tryhards is how some critics view an upcoming boxing bout between two aspiring reality TV stars. Jaime Ridge and The GC star Rosanna Arkle announced this week they would box in the undercard of the Godfather of Fight Nights.
Critics such as Anthony Fitzgerald suggested the pair consider alternative ways of contributing to society.
"Why not go to Christchurch and pick up a spade and help clean up some liquefaction?" Fitzgerald wrote on Facebook.
Arkle's show has led 15,000 people to share their hatred on Facebook page "Cancel the GC".
Another lambasted the bout as "media whoring at its finest".
A rumoured new mum-and-daughter reality show featuring Sally and Jaime Ridge on TV3 sparked further debate, though NZ On Air said it had received no request for funding.
The show would likely be a Kiwi version of US reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians.
