First dates are nerve wracking enough, but one man was left in an especially uncomfortable position when he discovered his ex-wife was sitting at the next table.
In the first episode of season 10 of First Dates UK, a divorced couple are seen telling their shocked dates that their ex spouses are sitting just metres away according to DailyMail.
Red-faced Stuart, 51, from Newcastle, is captured telling his shocked date Claire, 43, that his ex-wife Mandy, who is on a date with Adam, has accompanied him for moral support.
Stuart drops the bombshell when unwitting Claire asks about his relationship history.
A blushing Stuart replies: 'You're going to die when I tell you. You know my ex-wife? That's her there,' he says pointing to the next table.
Taken aback Claire replies: 'Are you joking me? Are you having a laugh? Please tell me you're joking.'
When Claire asks for an explanation of why his ex wife is in the restaurant, Stuart explains: 'We came together. She's got her life, I've got mine. It's very amicable and we're good friends.'
An awkward silence ensues, broken only when the waiter comes to drop off their fish and chips to much relieved praise from the duo.
The situation is further exacerbated when Claire asks when he was on a last date, jokingly adding: 'Don't say yesterday'.
Too her continued horror, he nervously giggles: 'Well if you count my ex-wife then yes'.
Meanwhile Stuart's former spouse is going through a similar debacle on the nearby table.
According to Entertainment Daily, Mandy 44, is busy confessing to 48-year-old Adam, from Durham, that the man on the next table is in fact her ex husband.
'No way! That is quite a shock,' he exclaims, before jokingly asking Stuart: 'Do you want to swap seats?'
Reassuring her date that he has nothing to worry about, Mandy says: 'We're quite unusual for ex-husband and wife. We got divorced on the internet for 30 quid.'
However Adam later admits it made the date uncomfortable, revealing: 'There wasn't much flirting going on because I felt a little awkward.
'Her ex-husband was sitting about seven feet away from me, so I didn't think it was appropriate to flirt with her.'
