A man armed with a knife and a crossbow was Tasered by police before they shot him dead at a commune in northern New South Wales. Police were called to the retreat, about 30km from Tenterfield. When the two officers arrived they were threatened with the weapons.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Geoff McKechnie said about 12 people lived on the property. McKechnie said the two officers weren't hurt during the incident but were traumatised by the ordeal. It's the second fatal shooting by Australian police in less than a month.
