Rain spreading south today, with heavy falls. Squally thunderstorms possible from Northland to Bay of Plenty. Becoming mainly fine tomorrow morning, but a few showers in the southwest later.

Taranaki to Kapiti

A few showers in Taranaki and Kapiti, then rain for most places overnight. Fine spells tomorrow, but showers returning later.

Gisborne to Wairarapa

Fine today. Rain tonight, clearing tomorrow morning and becoming fine, with westerly gales south of Hastings.

Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson

Mainly fine.

Buller

Mainly fine today. Showers tomorrow, some heavy.

Canterbury

Mainly fine. Heavy showers spreading east into the High Country tomorrow.

Westland, Fiordland

Periods of rain, heavy and squally at times from this evening, with thunderstorms and hail. Snow lowering to 200 metres in the south later tomorrow.

Otago, Southland

Showers developing tonight. Heavy, squally showers and possible thunderstorms about coastal Southland and Clutha tomorrow. Snow lowering to 200 metres later tomorrow.

Chatham Islands

A period of rain tomorrow.

North Island, showers clearing, but a few showers returning later for Taranaki to Northland. South Island, showers in the south, and a few developing in Westland. Fine elsewhere. Chatham Islands
