Scrubs fans can rejoice.
Zach Braff is planning his return to television with the show's creator Bill Lawrence.
Braff found fame on the medical comedy series as Dr John 'JD' Dorian, which ran for nine years, wrapping up in 2010.
Lately, he's been concentrating on film, using crowdfunding to help get his Garden State follow-up Wish I Was Here, which he co-wrote, directed and stars in, off the ground.
But with Wish I Was Here now hitting cinemas, Braff is talking about heading back to the small screen, where he says the best roles are now.
"I've been talking about a new idea with Bill Lawrence who created Scrubs. I don't know if it will be this year or next," he told The Independent.
"I like the idea of cable because I don't want to do 22 episodes, but I like the idea of this new wave that you can do 12 episodes or eight episodes maybe for cable or Netflix or wherever. There are so many more options now. Its an exciting time."
Braff recently told AAP that television is the place to be if you're an actor.
When asked if he would return, he replied, "of course".
"If you had asked me that a year and a half ago, or two years ago, I would have said no, but now of course I would, it's where all the great roles are," he says.
"It's the reason why all these amazing actors are tiptoeing over to TV, or cable television, because at least in this country, there's more interesting parts for actors there than there are in cinema and that's a sad thing to say."
