Motorcyclist killed in Ngakuru crash

A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash in Ngakuru.

In a statement, police said they were are at the scene of the crash between a car and a motorycle near the intersection of Rehi Rd and Whirinaki Valley Rd in Ngakuru, south of Rotorua.

Police were called to the crash at 5.15pm today.

The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance and this section of Whirinaki Valley Rd is currently closed.

People travelling in the area are asked to use alternative routes.

A police spokeswoman said there did not appear to have been any other injuries.

She said police did not have any information on how many people were in the car.

A Rotorua Daily Post reporter at the scene said four police cars remained at the scene, which was cordoned off.

She said a ute on the side of the road appeared to have damage to its front left corner.
