Verbal trespass notices have been served on ringleaders of a brawl between more than 30 people outside McDonald's in Ashburton on Sunday morning.
Franchise owner Dave Whalley said he had met his security firm, Talbot Security Group, to deal with several of the 15- to 30-year-old males involved in the brawl at the McDonald's and Harvey Norman car park.
"That means we are acting in trespassing certain individuals that were the ringleaders of the situation," Mr Whalley said.
Talbot Security Group managing director Dean Talbot said several verbal trespass notices were handed out, along with others issued on Sunday. The notices stand for two years, he said.
"Talbot Security has identified a number of people involved in the incident on Sunday and this information will be passed on to Ashburton police," Mr Talbot said.
Senior Sergeant Grant Russell said he had requested video of the incident footage and it would be reviewed before police made a decision to investigate the actual incident or not.
"But that doesn't mean there will necessarily be charges to come out of it," he said.
Mr Whalley had reviewed the footage, saying it was extremely violent and brutal.
