Seeing Fat Freddy's Drop and Six60 in the heat of New Zealand's summer is a right of passage for any Kiwi music lover.
But the two acts have each chosen interesting venues for their separate shows in January.
Six60 will be performing at Auckland's Villa Maria Winery on Saturday, January 16 at a concert being billed as a "festival event".
That means the show will include a yet-to-be-announced line-up of support acts, with the band promising to play songs that date back right to their, erm, roots.
The show comes after a big year for the band: Six60 released their second album in February, sold 30,000 tickets on a 14-date live trek around the country - including a sold-out show at Vector Arena, and signed with label Capitol Records. They are currently based in the United States.
Tickets are on sale from August 14 via Ticketmaster and Villa Maria Winery.
And there's bound to be plenty of wine at hand when Fat Freddy's perform on Waiheke Island for the first time.
The Wellington collective are heading to Cable Bay Vineyard on January 31, with just 2000 tickets available for the show.
It will follow their sold-out appearance at Auckland Town Hall on October 24.
The Wellington group admit they are looking forward to playing in front of crowds again after being in "studio lockdown" over winter, working on their fourth album, the follow-up to 2013's Blackbird.
Tickets go on sale on August 17, with transport options to and from Waiheke Island available. A pre-sale begins on August 11.
Meanwhile, Kiwi metal bands teaming up for joint tours seems to be quite the trendy thing to do.
Hot on the heels of Head Like a Hole and 8 Foot Sativa's recent nationwide double-header, which comes to an end in Auckland this weekend, is news that instrumental Napier trio Jakob and and Wellington doom-metallers Beastwars are joining forces for four shows in October.
They'll play Allen Street in Christchurch on October 2, Refuel in Dunedin on October 3, San Fran in Wellington on October 9 and The Studio in Auckland on October 10.
It's a chance to hear Jakob's Taite Music Prize-winning album Sines live, while Beastwars are promising to showcase songs from a new album which is in the works. Tickets are available today from Under The Radar.
