As a world famous pop star, Nicole Scherzinger is used to the adoration of her fans and has grown accustomed to continual requests for autographs and pictures.

But the former Pussycat Dolls lead singer has revealed she was once asked for a selfie in the middle of a very intimate bikini wax, the Daily Mail reports.

Nicole, 38, described the horrendously awkward moment when a beautician told her she was a fan in the middle of performing the hair removal in a Paris salon.

The X Factor UK judge was asked what was the oddest place she had been recognised in a recent interview with The Mirror.

Without a moment's hesitation, Nicole launched into her anecdote.

'I think it was in Paris when I was getting a bikini wax. That was horrible. I thought the chick doing it didn't know me but she was actually a fan.

'She asked for a picture right in the middle of the wax. When she was looking at my f***y. I was like, wow.'

The singer is taking on the world of acting with her role as Penny Rivera in a new American TV movie remake of the 1987 classic Dirty Dancing.

The character of Penny will be a test of Nicole's skills as she undergoes an illegal abortion which leaves her life hanging in the balance due to complications.

Nicole, who is staunchly anti-abortion, almost didn't take the part due to her character having the procedure.

She told the Daily Mail in December: 'So I got the role and I almost didn't take it because I didn't want to promote abortion, because my character has an abortion.

'But I was like, hopefully they can learn from, you know, her ways and I can be a positive influence.'

The three-hour TV movie will be broadcast on ABC on May 24.
