When Russell Crowe made a surprise appearance at the funeral of his cricketing superstar cousin Martin in Auckland last month, he was charm personified.
And the Academy Award-winner is continuing to offer support to Martin's widow, Lorraine Downes, and her family.
Last weekend, Russell hosted Downes' rugby-playing son Hilton Mexted - who plays for the Manly Marlins rugby club - at the Rabbitohs' NRL clash at Sydney's ANZ Stadium.
Hilton thanked "Uncle Russell" on Instagram for the view from the box and posted a shot on Monday after he joined Crowe for a few beers on a launch on Sydney Harbour. Hilton's sister Jasmine lives in Melbourne, where she is chasing a professional dancing career.
Meanwhile, Downes, 51, took to social media over Easter to share a prayer by St Francis of Assisi.
On Easter Monday she posted a picture with her two children to Instagram with the message: "What a truly beautiful and precious thing to feel the love and support of your children when you most need it. #forevergrateful #love #children #precious #forever #loved #eternal love #neverforgotten"
Downes is a NZ Breast Cancer Foundation ambassador and has previously worked in the same capacity for the Child Cancer Foundation. She and Martin were also ambassadors for children's charity Variety.
