The old gang from the hit 1999 teen sex comedy reconvene for the East Great Falls High School reunion after five sequels, three of which went straight to DVD.
And yes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Despite being a married father of one and having sworn off getting his jollies with the pastry, Jason Biggs' Jim must suffer more humiliations brought on by his wayward libido.
Meanwhile, Eugene Levy's Noah (Jim's dad) is still trying to hand down cringe-inducing fatherly advice, Seann William Scott's Stifler is back on the offensive, while most of the rest (Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Chris Klein included) turn up to reminisce and compare notes on adulthood while not quite being convincing as actual grown-ups.
There are some fun bits, a contrived crisis in the marriage of Jim and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) and plenty of scenes which amusingly echo the original.
But though it revives some of the spirit of the warmly funny, desperate-to-lose-their-virginity original, it also reminds that nostalgia is wasted on the young. Though full marks for making a whole new film rather than re-releasing the first one in 3D.
