Robbie Williams has quit smoking.

The 38-year-old Angels singer - who gave up drinking after getting hooked on drugs and alcohol following his 1995 departure from Take That - has reportedly now waved goodbye to his 40-a-day cigarette habit.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "So far he hasn't smoked in ten days. He wants to start a family with Ayda soon, so it's a good move.

"He's also in training for the Unicef Soccer Aid match at Old Trafford in May, so he'll need to be fit."

Robbie entered rehab on his 33rd birthday after getting addicted to prescription medication, and believes he would have had a heart attack if his management team hadn't stepped in to save him.

He told GQ magazine: "I had a big blow up on a Monday night and then on Tuesday I was on a sofa coming in and out of consciousness.

"Then I heard their voices and I thought, 'It's Tuesday. They are supposed to be here on Wednesday.

I bet you I'm going to rehab today.

"They sat down opposite me and said, "Rob, you look f***ing awful". I said, 'I'll go to rehab, you don't have to say f***ing nasty things to me'.

"They had a plane waiting for me. They packed my bags and I got on it thankfully. I might have been a couple of days or 24 hours from dying. I was on this plane kicking the seats, I was so angry with myself that I had let myself get into that place again."
