A "hilarious" new comedy show hosted by Paul Henry is planned to screen on TV3 in 2012.

Henry will host Would I Lie To You?, a comedy panel show featuring two teams and guest celebrities.

In a call for studio audience members, the production team said "Team members read statements about themselves which may or may not be true; the opposing team asks questions to determine which is the case. The show features a succession of unbelievable truths and believable lies."

Henry told Spy earlier this month that the format allowed him to juggle that role and his new position as host of Channel Ten's breakfast news show in Australia.

"It is an easier format for filming. It works better and requires less of me. We can shoot several episodes together over weekends in front of a live studio audience," he said.

But Henry's current affairs show, planned for Sunday nights, has reportedly been scrapped.

Filming of the first batch of episodes for the show is taking place on December 17 and 18 in Ponsonby.
