The MYOB panel met up at Fieldays for a discussion about technology in farming.

The Country's Jamie Mackay spoke to Minister for Agriculture Damien O'Connor, Young Farmers CEO Terry Copeland and Nick Fletcher from MYOB at Fieldays.

Farming and technology go hand in hand and with that in mind, MYOB has produced a rural business monitor.

Fletcher says the business monitor has brought up three important technology issues that concern farmers - broadband connectivity, cloud computing and the Internet of Things.

Young Farmers CEO Terry Copland says that younger people in the rural sector are keen to adopt technology and it is also one of the big drivers to encourage them to be involved in the primary industries.

Damien O'Connor says technology is incredibly important to the farming sector but that farmers are sometimes suspicious of using it due to connectivity issues.

"They want to move into this space, but we've got to get the infrastructure right."

Also in today's interview: The Technology Panel discuss the cloud, improving connectivity, how to get more young people involved in the primary industries and what MYOB are doing to help farming become a more technology-based business.
