After heavy rain all morning the sun shone at midday in Morrinsville as farmers united to show their frustrationat what they perceived to be continued attacks on rural New Zealand.
More than 600 farmers predominantly from the Waikato but some as far away as Bay of Plenty and Taranaki, along with sizeable political contingents from the National and New Zealand First parties, rallied at the Mega Cow - a statue donated by the Maber family to the town of Morrinsville.
Rowena Duncum spoke to Brett Maber who says his grandfather donated the statue to represent farming, and he'd be rapt it was used as a focal point for such an important issue today.
Myrtle, the tractor infamously driven up Parliament's steps in 2003 to protest the "fart tax" also made an appearance today.
Although farmers agreed they're a resilient bunch, there is a limit, with a group from Whakatane saying this is the first time they've felt targeted in an election and it has made them mad.
