This includes manufacturing the large concrete L-units which will be used to support the road.
The work will involve excavating the majority of the affected lane, construction of a concrete foundation, installation of the 2.5m high reinforced concrete L-units, backfilling and compacting to road level including four layers of geogrid reinforcing, construction of the road surface and installation of drainage assets and traffic services, including a guardrail beside the road.
Riverdale Road will remain closed at the dropout until the project has been completed, which is planned by Christmas.
Tararua District Council says it understands that many people use the road to get in and out of town, and appreciates motorists patience while this important project is carried out.
