Most wool types eased in price in the North Island sale last week, despite an easing in the value of the New Zealand dollar.
New Zealand Wool Services International chief executive John Dawson said recent overseas sales of shorter shears, which made up the bulk of the offering, had the
sector better supported with prices holding their ground.
Of the 7200 bales on offer, 70% were sold.
The weighted indicator for the main trading currencies came down 2.22%, having minimal positive impact locally as targeted buying and basic supply/demand pressures are the driving factors presently.
Fine crossbred full fleece and longer early shorn 32 microns to 35 microns was 3% cheaper.
