Whanganui's Yobees Honey is now selling directly to the public after concentrating on bulk sales to the wholesale market since it started in 2013.
The company, owned by Johann Ander, Neil Walker and Dan Maspani, has hives on a property at Waverley and has just released a mānuka honey graded8+ by the UMF Honey Association.
"We are really excited to release our Pure NZ 8+ Manuka Honey to the retail market," Ander said.
"We are extremely passionate about all aspects of beekeeping and taking this next step into the retail side is a natural progression for Yobees Honey. We also hope to expand our range of products and include additional grades of mānuka honey in the near future."
The UMF Honey Association ensures the purity and quality of antibacterial properties of mānuka honey, rating the unique signature compounds characteristic of the honey.
Mānuka honey is often bought for health and healing purposes including treatment for wounds, burns and sores, treatment for sore throats, improving dental health and assisting with digestive complaints.
Yobees Honey's other services include buying and selling honey, queen breeding and royal jelly, pollination and consulting.
