Things are getting a bit fancy at the Warepa Collie Club.

The club's new clubrooms were opened at its recent annual two-day trials near Clinton and followed a fundraising effort.

It had been a big project that had been on the cards for the past few years, president Simon Grant said.

Proud of their new clubrooms are Warepa Collie Club's life members Steve and LInda Wallace and club president Simon Grant.

Since hosting the South Island dog trial championships in 2017, the club had ``upped the ante'' and it was hoping to be selected to host the New Zealand championships in three years' time.

The new clubrooms, which included a cookshop, sat on the course and enabled spectators to relax and watch several of the courses.

The club was very strong, usually attracting more than 30 to meetings, and it wanted to capitalise on that strength while it could, he said.

Mr Grant was pleased with the number of entries at this months' trials and also with how the two days ran.
