Wanaka developer Allan Dippie has been advised to obtain a resource consent for a deck on the front of his old woolshed.

The woolshed in west Wanaka was the subject of an acrimonious exchange between Mr Dippie and Upper Clutha Environmental Society secretary Julian Haworth in June.

After an investigation, Queenstown Lakes District Council monitoring and enforcement officer Conor Doyle emailed Mr Haworth last week saying he had advised the property owner to apply for resource consent for the deck.

Mr Doyle found no issue with other aspects of the building complained about by Mr Haworth.

Mr Haworth told the Otago Daily Times the council should have ordered the deck be removed, as it was a case of ''wedding venue by stealth''.

Mr Dippie said Mr Haworth should mind his own business and ensure he had his facts correct.
