There was strong bidding at the Otapawa Poll Hereford Stud's 31st Annual Sale.

There was strong bidding at the Otapawa Poll Hereford Stud's 31st Annual Sale.

It was a very gloomy wet day in Tiruamea for Otapawa Poll Hereford Stud's 31st Annual Sale.
The rain abated for the pre-sale paddock viewing before a packed-out gallery of buyers settled into strong bidding action, with commercial buyers bidding up to $13,500.

"All enjoyed the day with a steak lunch afterwards," said Maria Robbie from Otapawa Stud.

There were 32 out of 36 bulls sold with an average price of $7774. Top price of $20,000 was paid for Lot 12 Otapawa RipTide 6043 to Big River Herefords Hamilton. Riptide 6043 was entered in the 1 per cent Bull Challenge with the percentage of sale price being donated to the New Zealand Hereford Youth Fundraising Projects.

Lot 4 Otapawa Smoke 6074 sold to Brimai Stud Waitahora for $13,500 and Lot 23 Otapawa Ammo 6050 sold to Stoneburn Stud Otago for $12,500.

Everyone involved was thanked for following and being part of Otapawa's breeding initiatives with their stud programme.
