Thousands of apples picked but there are 'plenty more left on the trees'

Fruitpickers Agustin Blanco, (left) Pip Bus and Dave Stewart are shown here with the almost 400kg of apples they helped pick for Wanaka's fifth Rippon Hall apple harvest celebration this Sunday.

Local Food Wanaka organiser Sophie Ward said Lowburn orchard owner Joth Hankinson offered the fruit for the Autumn Apple Drive.

She said 10 young people from Wanaka picked almost 400kg of apples but there were "plenty more left on the trees".

Miss Ward said they would be making chutney and juice from 9.30am to 3pm and running free chutney-making workshops from 11am to 3pm.
