Rick Powdrell is the Rural Security Spokesperson for Federated Farmers, he caught up with The Country's Dom George today to discuss the recent cattle poaching incident.

It's not only devastating financially but there is an element of cruelty to animals, especially in the case at Okoia where cows were left maimed and suffering.

Powdrell is hoping for more punitive measures for people caught rustling stock in the future. He also urges rural people to work closely with police to ensure this doesn't happen as frequently.
