Tararua College Year 10 student, Ben Schnell, has recently returned from the World Duck Calling Champs in Easton, Maryland, USA. Competitors came from all over the world but mainly from Canada and USA. It is an annual world competition for the best callers in the world.
Ben has been calling
for two years and has won five out of the eight contests he entered, third in the under 17 division.
"It was an awesome experience being able to compete against some great callers and to meet a lot of the guys I have looked up to. The competition was in the small town of Easton, Maryland. We were away for 10 days and stopped over for a few days in San Francisco and did all of the touristy things, including a visit to Alcatraz, and we biked the bridge. It was an awesome experience."
