Driver Daimeon Veitch, of Christchurch, waits for a tow after his vehicle became stuck in mud during stage six of the second round of the Superwinch Mainland Challenge event at Ngapara Pools, in Alexandra, on Saturday.

Mr Veitch's co-driver was Kerry Williams, also of Christchurch, and they drove in the outlaw class.

Organised by the Shotover 4WD Club and hosted by the Central Otago 4WD Club, the event attracted 26 teams from throughout New Zealand.

Richard Wilson and Michael O'Keefe, of Queenstown, won the class.

The next stage will be held in Methven next month.
